Fake or Genuine?

The weather is beautiful. The sky is laden with dark clouds. Cool wind is blowing. It just the kind of weather that makes you want to snuggle under the blanket with a favourite book. This is just the kind of weather that makes you feel lazy. You want to take life as it comes. There is no rush. There is no hurry. There are no deadlines to meet. There is peace everywhere.

So what is that I want to blog about? Well, it is mind over matter. Heart wants me to blog. Mind wants me to take it easy, lie on bed and read something. But I chose to listen to my heart although I have no idea what I want to blog about. Where to start?

I want to say something about the celebrities’ blogs. Are they real blogs? I think they are managed by their PR agencies. They hire ghost writers and add colourful posts. The gullible fans go ga ga over their blogposts and start tweeting their appreciation. The celebrities feel charged up and retweet what the fans have to say in appreciation. This phenomenon catches like a virus. The fans get tempted to appreciate even without reading the post in a desperate bid to get that retweet from the celebrity. It’s a win-win situation for both the fan and the celebrity who is always in search of free publicity.

Now what’s wrong in this practice?  Aren’t we all publicity hungry? There is nothing wrong. But it smacks of hypocrisy. Why? The celebrity has not written that post in the first place. He/she has hired some talented person to strut out all that stuff on their behalf. How can they take credit for what doesn’t belong to them? Secondly, isn’t it cheating? Well, there is a very thin line between the cheating and the moral responsibility that I am talking about.

The world belongs to smart people. It belongs to those who can manipulate the public mood in their favour. Therefore, there’s no point in being so cynical. There are bloggers who don’t know the proper rules of grammar and go on blogging as if there’s no tomorrow. Their blogs become popular beyond belief. Then why to blame those celebrities? It’s free for all. You should know the rules of the game and play by those rules rather than complain about them.
